The Art of Misdirection
I recently watched the TED talk by Apollo Robbins titled “The Art of Misdirection”. Apollo was hailed as the greatest pickpocket in the world. During his performance he demonstrated how specifically directing someone’s focus can provide interesting results. Apollo also questions how attentive we are of our surroundings by testing us with actions we perform on a daily basis.
I absolutely enjoyed Mr. Robbins’ TED talk. It was an excellent mixture of comedy and information. He provides a live demonstration of his talents and it’s nothing short of impressive. As he pulls a member of the audience onto the stage he begins to manipulate his focus in such a way that allows him to literally steal a watch right off his wrist. Apollo’s fluidity while at work is a sight to behold.
